Local Advisory Board
Highgate Primary School is proud to be part of the Bradgate Education Partnership (BEP), a local multi-academy trust that provides support, challenge and opportunities for collaboration across its schools.

Our school has a Local Advisory Board (LAB) which works closely with the Board of Trustees to support and champion the school. The LAB consists of the Headteacher alongside parent and co-opted advisors who bring a range of experience, skills and perspectives.
The Local Advisory Board meets regularly throughout the year to discuss key aspects of school life, including:
- Quality of education and curriculum development
- Pupil attendance, behaviour and outcomes
- Safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Community engagement and school improvement priorities
In addition to formal meetings, advisors are encouraged to become involved in school life by attending events such as sports days, performances, parent evenings and other school activities.
The Role of the Local Advisory Board
The Local Advisory Board aims to:
- Promote high standards of education and wellbeing for all pupils.
- Support the school’s vision, values and strategic priorities.
- Provide constructive challenge and accountability to help drive school improvement.
- Act in accordance with the expectations and responsibilities outlined by the Trustees.
- Ensure high standards of conduct, integrity and ethical practice.
- Champion effective governance that is inclusive, accountable and representative of the community it serves.
Who Can Become an Advisor?
Advisory Board members may be recruited from a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Parents and carers
- School staff
- Members of the local community
- Individuals with professional expertise, skills or experience that can support the school
Parent advisors play an important role in ensuring the views of families are represented. If you would like to contact a parent advisor, please speak with the school office, who will be happy to assist.
Becoming a Local Advisory Board Member
We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who are passionate about education and committed to supporting the continued success of Highgate Primary School. No previous governance experience is necessary, as training and support are provided.

Complaints and Concerns
We value open communication and encourage parents and carers to raise any concerns as early as possible. In the first instance, please contact your child’s class teacher or make an appointment to speak with the Headteacher. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and positively through discussion.
